FOD 2013.01.14

According to the media, it was the republicans who were (allegedly) waging war on women. But as a recent article points out, obama's Cabinet appointments all have Y chromosomes.

Obama to Romney: Send Me Your Binders Full of Women
At the rate he is going, Obama is going to have a Cabinet that looks more like the Augusta National Golf Club than America. The four top Cabinet posts will probably go to white men: John Kerry at State; Jack Lew at Treasury; Hagel; and the replacement for Attorney General Eric Holder at Justice -- the short list of which consists of, you guessed it, men.
The media crucified Romney for his "binders full of women" remark.* Yet obama gets a pass for signing up a bunch of old white guys.

Evidently in obama's world there aren't any women with enough expertise to fill those positions.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that “diversity is important,” but defended President Obama from the suggestion that he isn’t appointing enough women to his cabinet by noting that expertise is the most important factor.
Double standard, anyone...?

* The remark was in response to a question about the representation of women in government. Romney's response was that when he was governor of Massachusests and was filling openings in his administration he went to "a number of women's groups and said, 'Can you help us find folks?,' and they brought us whole binders full of women." I never understood the criticism of that remark. Back when I was in the corporate world, we kept binders of applicants' resumes to help us fill future openings. Romney did much the same. In fact, he reached out to women's groups for their assistance. What's so wrong about that?
