Football season kicked off this weekend. That's one good thing associated with the start of a new school year.
In case you don't watch TV, here's a couple of things that should let you know that football season is here.
The "Jerry Springer" show is no longer the only place to watch large asses crammed into tight shiny pants.
National supply of "C" batteries depleted as "football widows" stock up for the season.
Of course, it's not all good news. As George Will points out:
Football combines the two worst elements of American life. Violence and committee meetings.
And no football season would be complete without Lucy and Charlie Brown. Who knew that Charles Schultz could see the future?

Yep, Peanuts was dead on... :-)
About that offside rule cartoon...
NFO - Amazing, isn't it?
Harper - I thought of you when I posted that one.
As I recall the newsreels of yesteryear, during the last Depression baseball was pretty popular too. This season looks like a real BIG one;-)
