Ran into a fellow faculty member at the grocery store this morning. He's a tenured full professor of economics. In fact, he used to be the economics department chair. We got to chatting, and I found out that he was living in an apartment complex a few blocks from campus. He's paying $650 a month, plus utilities. No big deal, right?
Then I found out that he owns a house here in town that he's renting out for $500 a month - plus he's paying the tenant's water bill.
Yes, you read that right. He's losing $150+ per month on his living arrangements.
And he's teaching economics to the youth of America. That explains a lot about the mess we're in.
With that kind of financial acumen his talents are wasted here. He's obviously qualified to serve on obama's team of economic advisors...
Shot Down.

That is amazing! Dad rents his 3br 1bath 1950's house for $800 a month and we have no problem finding tennants. The only problem we have is finding ones that don't fuck the place up.
Hey, I'd rather pay $800/month to live in Kerrville than $500/month to live in Laredo.
Location aside, however, what I don't get is why the guy doesn't live in his own house and save the $150/month.
I guess I just haven't been a professor long enough...
Hmmm, is his tenant a female? Maybe he is getting $150 worth of something else.
Given the quality of most of the females down here, he's still overpaying...
He's a Social activist Democrat, just trying to "redistribute the wealth" like President Obama wants him to do.
Toejam, if he was a real socialist he'd be redistributing other people's money.
No, he;s just a typical academic whose head is so full of theories that he has trouble functioning in the real world.
