Valentine's Day Texas Style

Here in the Lone Star State we like to do things in style. For example, this Valentine's Day you can buy your sweetie a $30,000 margarita.
Looking for the ultimate splurge on your Valentine?

Forget fine wine, and head for the margarita that costs as much as a new car.

The $30,000 drink is at the Iron Cactus bar in Austin, Texas. The cocktail uses Patron Gran Platinum Tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice and organic agave nectar.

Why the lavish price tag, you ask?

The drink is garnished with a lime wedge, which holds a pair of 3.75 carat diamond earrings featuring 260 flawless diamonds. The earrings are hand-crafted by renowned jewelry designer Zoltan David.

You can drink up feeling good about yourself, though, because the drink is actually for a good cause.

The bar is donating $6,000 from each margarita to a local charity.

Don't have 30 grand to drop on a drink? Then you can go to the other extreme and for a mere $45 per person spend the weekend at the Luckenbach Hug-In and Valentine Ball. The price includes concerts by Dale Watson Friday night and Asleep at the Wheel Saturday.

Or you could just do what I'm planning - a nice quiet cheap inexpensive romantic dinner at home. The menu includes:

Elk Steak Marinated in Bourbon

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Bundles

Roasted Potatoes with Tomatoes, Basil, and Garlic

Double Chocolate Stout Cake with Bourbon Cream Frosting (cooked in a heart-shaped pan)

And, of course, champagne.

That's true love...

The food looks excellente. I bought my hubby a Valentine's Day card in Spanish, since we have been learning the language.
