Made it here okay, but I swear if I could drive here instead of having to fly I would in a heartbeat. TSA crap, airport and airlines crap, people who belong on a subway instead of a plane ... sigh...
But we're here and life is good. Hot sun, warm water, and cold beer. I say again, life is good!
The internet connection is iffy so posts might be sporadic (well, that and the beach...).

Flying was better back in the 60's when you and the rest of the family seeing you off all could walk up to the doorway which led out to the tarmac where you'd walk across the taxi-way and climb the steps up to the plane. NO checks at all. The down side was they had lots more crashes then.
Once, when I was flying from Newark airport to Lindbergh field in St. Louis on TWA (RIP) I arrived at the terminal a little early. I asked where the flight to St. Louis was boarding and was told the gate #. When I got there I was ushered on the plane and told they were late. I looked at my watch and thought: "the flight doesn't leave for another 40 minutes.
Long story short: They put me on the wrong flight cause they didn't even check my ticket. I could have saved myself the fair and just walked on, no problem.
But that was in another universe a long time ago.
Shuuuuush! Have fun! Don't 'criticize' anything or anyone as long as you're out of Texas, expecially the Feds, you may have to swim/walk back and come across the Rio Grande via one of the more expensive Cayote trails. (Remember too, according to the Maya, Inca, Aztec, or someone, it's all over soon and everything starts again like Ground Hog Day this fall;-)
The potential for eye candy down there is off the charts. Don't get stingy on us.

Toejam - Like you, I remember when flying was a special occasion. My mother made us wear our church clothes on the rare times we flew. And I also remember TWA, Pan Am, Eastern, and the others. Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you. As soon as you left the country obumma disolved Congress and imprisoned the Chief Justice and the 4 'conservative' justices. Marshall Law was imposed and all the marshalls were fired. Last night, seemingly out of nowhere, 500million Chinese showed up out of 10million shipping containers all over the country like magic. Oh yes! Obumma sold Texas back to Mexico and threw in California to boot for nada, all the Texans were flown to resettlement centers in Alaska. And he's trying to give Florida to Castro for a year's supply of cigars. Bet you didn't know the election was cancelled, no one's seen Romney or his family since the Mormon Tabernacle was sold to an Arab Shiek. Have a great vacation and don't say nuttin' to no one;-)
