In The News

On the eve of tonight's presidential debate, we have this development:
Top Republican lawmakers wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday saying they had information that U.S. diplomats requested increased security at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, ahead of the Sept. 11 attack, and that the requests were turned down by officials in Washington.

"Based on information provided to the Committee by individuals with direct knowledge of events in Libya, the attack that claimed [U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens'] life was the latest in a long line of attacks on Western diplomats and officials in Libya in the months leading up to September 11, 2012," they wrote. "It was clearly never, as Administration officials once insisted, the result of a popular protest.

"In addition, multiple U.S. federal government officials have confirmed to the Committee that, prior to the September 11 attack, the U.S. mission in Libya made repeated requests for increased security in Benghazi. The mission in Libya, however, was denied these resources by officials in Washington."
I hope Mitt beats obama unmercilessly about the head and shoulders with this.

And on the home front:

One U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot and killed Tuesday near Naco, Ariz., while another was badly wounded in the attack.
The gunshots were possibly fired by drug traffickers, federal and county officials said.
Possibly??? POSSIBLY!?!?! Who the hell else would be out there in the middle of nowhere shooting at Border Patrol agents - Wiley E. Coyote?

And of course, the question that immediately springs to mind is whether or not the bad guys got their weapons courtesy of Eric Holder.
The agents were part of a three-person patrol in the area and were responding to a motion detection sensor when they encountered gunfire, according to Homeland Security officials. Authorities did not know if the agents returned fire.
A reasonable person might wonder why there is any doubt about whether or not the agents returned fire. But a reasonable person isn't in charge of setting the rules of engagement for the Border Patrol. We saw that when U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed by smugglers armed with AK-47s provided by Eric Holder and his flunkies at ATF. Here's the ROE under which they were forced to operate:
Border Patrol agents commanded the illegals to drop their weapons. When they did not, the Patrol fired at them with beanbags as required by engagement protocol. The illegals fired back with AK-47s and real bullets.
Beanbags vs. real bullets. Not hard to pick the winner in that contest.

Sadly, the idiot who is ultimately in charge of these flusterclucks is quite likely to get re-elected.

Sigh...

Although I didn't watch the debate, I hear the reviews gave it to Mitt over Obungler.
