Catching My Breath

It was a loonngg  weekend. Blogmeets, out-of-town visitors, kids' birthdays, and a weekend getaway ... lots of fun, but also exhausting.

It all actually began on Wednesday. I had to drive for a couple of hours to pickup a pair of jetskis for the weekend, then turn around and repeat the two-hour drive back home. Of course, they weren't running, so most of Thursday was spend getting them going (one dead battery and one starter solenoid - once the diagnoses were made the actual repair work went fairly quickly). The rest of Thursday was spent shopping and organizing for the days to come.

Friday I had to cram an entire weekend's worth of fun into one afternoon at the Blownstar 2012 blogmeet (after-action reports here and here). It was tough, but I managed to do a pretty good job of it. Friday evening our out-of-town guests arrived, and of course we stayed up late into the night. Which didn't leave me very chipper for Saturday.

Saturday was my daughter's Sweet 16 birthday. Saturday was also the day we loaded up and traveled to Horseshoe Bay, where we joined other friends in a rented waterfront house for the weekend. Twelve people ... two jetskis ... early fireworks ... lots of good food and drink ... very little rest. Another long day and late night.

Sunday I had breakfast duty. Fortunately I had an ace or two up my sleeve: a make-ahead egg, sausage, cheese, and potato casserole that I prepared Saturday night. Sunday morning all I had to do was take it out of the fridge and pop it into the oven.

That was coupled with ham and cheese biscuits that require very little focus to make -- which was a good thing, because at that point I was incapable of complex reasoning or sustained concentration.

Sunday evening I headed north with the jetskis, dropped them off, and then turned around and retraced my steps south.

Sunday night I slept the sleep of the dead, followed up by a nice long Monday afternoon nap. Today will be spent catching up on little chores around the house, along with preparing for tomorrow's 4th of July activities.

It was nice to spend time with friends and family. And I realize that we are extremely blessed to be able to enjoy ourselves like this when so many are struggling. I am truly grateful for the blessings of friends and prosperity.

But damn I'm tired...

Glad y'all had a good time, and hope the daughter's 16th went well! We ARE lucky, but we've also worked hard for what we have...

Interesting menu CTT

You on Lipitor?

NFO - you are so right. A friend of mine refers to it as enjoying the fruits of our labors, and there's a lot of truth in that statement.

Toejam - no Lipitor, but I do take Crestor. (I don't eat like that all the time, just on special occasions - like weekends.)

Toejam - Tim's 'Countdown Margaritas' clean the pipes out quite effectively. Do not consume near open flame.
