Which brings us to Mitt Romney and his speech at the NAACP convention.
There's no doubt Mitt was venturing into unfriendly territory, confronting a danger to his election chances, and taking a risk in speaking to a group that is in obama's hip pocket. His reception was what you might expect.
Mitt Romney ... drew boos at times during a speech to the nation’s oldest civil-rights group as he said his policies would help the economic interests of blacks more than those of the Obama administration.Thought exercise I: replace "Romney" with "Obama" and "NAACP" with "NRA." What would the media reaction then be?
He is unlikely to capture the votes of many members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People over Obama, who won 95 percent of the black vote four years ago... Obama has overwhelming support from black voters over Romney, 92 percent to 2 percent, according to a July 1-8 survey by the Hamden, Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
I think we all know the answer to that.
Thought exercise II: suppose 95% of the white voters supported Romney over obama. How many articles would we see calling that racist?
Again, I think we all know the answer to that.
Meanwhile, obama couldn't even be troubled to show up at the NAACP convention. Instead, he sent
Here is something I’d like to say to President Obama: You should have attended the NAACP convention in Houston today. Mitt Romney did. It was the right thing to do. The Republican knows the nation’s oldest civil-rights group isn’t exactly friendly turf but went anyway.Talk about a slap in the face to a constituency he's obviously taking for granted.
The president should not take the African-American vote for granted. Let’s not be under any illusions. He received 95% of the black vote four years ago. He’ll do almost as well this time around for sure.
My bottom line is this: Romney did the right thing on this day, the president did not.
BTW, answering the question asked in the above picture: "How has that (obama/dems) worked out for the black community?"
As the overall U.S. unemployment rate stayed at 8.2% in June, the rate among black Americans rose nearly a full percentage point.Just think how bad things would be for the black community if there wasn't a black person in the White House helping them out...
The unemployment rate for blacks rose to 14.4% from 13.6% in May, the Labor Department reported Friday. That's a sharp contrast to the white unemployment rate, which stayed put at 7.4%, and the Hispanic rate, which held at 11%.

50+ years of voting democrat and what has it gotten them< They're STILL down on the plantation... Just sayin...
It is amazing that so few people in the 'black community' can correlate their economic situation with the current leadership in DC. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a black Republican running for this office against Obama?
Obama didn't have to be the first Black President, but black Americans wanted to stick with LBJ & The Boys in gratitude for all he/they did for them, and now they're sticking with an idiot Community Organizer from Chicago who isn't even decended from American Slaves because he can tap dance and sing like the best of the Hollywood elite; never mind that he couldn't lead a herd of horses to a water hole, or do anything but screw up the country for them and everyone else for the next 30 years.
If Romney puts Rice on the ticket for the VP slot, watch the "Congressional Black Caucaus" claim that she's unfit and a Bush lackey or "House Slave".
Shame that too often people are judged by the company they keep, the leaders they applaud; "company" that only wants one thing, their votes, and afterwards treats them like pond scum.
People have to "Work the System", "Milk the Poliwogs", and maneuver to their own best advantage. Yhep! We could very well have had a Black President way before Obumma; but the NAACP and others (Jesse Jackass, Al Sharktongue, et al other Black Carpetbaggers) wanted to be Good Little Democrats and wait in the line until the DNC Massah's said it was OK. What a waste we had to settle on Obumma. What a very expensive waste!
In the rush to bring a black president to office the left and oppressed minority groups could care less whether or not the man had the background to actaully do the job. In all decisions that Obummer has made it has been through handlers and lobbbyists. Soros and his minions have built this puppet regime and Obummer does their bidding.
A refreshing approach to a presidential candidate would be a man who:
1. Has a background of governing and experience in business. And has success in both ventures.
2. Does not pander to certain groups to retain or grovel for votes.
3. Is willing to make hard decisions that is not bound by re-election concerns in his first term.
4. Follows up on campaign promises from day one.
NFO - Agreed ... I don't get it.
Harper and Pascvaks - there are plenty of qualified black conservatives, but as soon as they start to become a threat to the welfare and race pimps they get tagged as Uncle Toms. It's sad...
Jeff - That would be refreshing. I hope it comes to pass.
"Just think how bad things would be for the black community if there wasn't a black person in the White House helping them out..."
Yes! Definitely a case of "Gilding the Lily"!! What a waste of fine pure gold, adorning something that in and of himself is just so pure and good, fine and dandy, intelligent and wise, tall and upright, lean and mean, and as flat as five tires in the middle of Death Valley. Why waste your money, your time, your future on a fella that "Walks on Water in Hawaii"?
