As promised, here's a picture of my red stag. I can't say enough about the outfitter - Simon Guild of High Peak Station. It's a family business, very professional, and he made us feel like part of his family. Great hunt, and even more importantly, great people.
Wow, that is amazing! Good for you. (You are the one with the rifle, right? Not the one with the big rack?)
ReplyDeleteHoly Shit, CTT.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it!
Do you realize in that photograph you look exactly like Earnest Hemmingway.
Besides being a world-class writer, Hemmingway was a big game hunter who travelled the world after numerous animals.
Nice rack!
ReplyDeleteHow in the hell do you get it back to Texas?
Nice! And I don't think THAT is going to fit in the checked luggage... :-D And yeah, there IS a passing resemblance to Hemingway!
ReplyDeleteNavyOne - Thanks. Yeah, that's me with the rifle. If the stag was armed I might reconsider the whole hunting thing.
ReplyDeleteToejam - I'm not anywhere near being in Hemingway's class, but I understand he also enjoyed a wee drop of whiskey on occassion ...
Harper - when the trophy is prepared the antlers are removed. Then it's crated, shipped by sea, and reassembled when it gets here.
NFO - thanks. I'm very happy with it.
Wow... what a world-class animal. I might have to add that one the ol' bucket list. Again, congratulations on a fine critter.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bear. It was a helluva hunt. You should definitely make the trip if you can.
